GALLERY 89 – SOHO, 89 Mercer St.
“From Caos is an installation created by portuguese artists Pedro Cunha and Sofia Xavier. Pedro uses the space as an enormous sketchbook, panting directly over the white walls. The series of murals and sculptures transform the gallery into a narrative where photographic characters created and performed by Sofia interact within it.”

INTERVENTION:
This is the first intervention of the itinerant art project IN LOCO, a collaboration between two Portuguese artists Pedro Cunha and Sofia Xavier, in a creative laboratory that will take place in several cities in the next years.
In New York the housing structure is the Gallery 89, a pop-up gallery project that reconverts the number 89 at Mercer St, known as Bar89, in an exhibition space. A project developed and curated by Cristian and Cindy Vargas Candamil over the last two years, inviting several artists to intervene in this privileged location in city down town, in one of the central streets of Soho.
The huge open space as received during a month the construction of this site specific installation in a work in progress format with open doors, enabling the public to follow the different fazes of the process.
Besides the intervention both artists have produced their individual works.
